Title | Chronic unpredictable mild stress produces depressive-like behavior, hypercortisolemia, and metabolic dysfunction in adolescent cynomolgus monkeys |
Overall design | In this study, we adapted a chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) paradigm used in rodent models of depression to induce depressive-like behavior in adolescent cynomolgus monkeys. Cynomolgus monkeys were divided into the following 2 groups (n = 5 in each group): (1) control group, and (2) CUMS group. The CUMS stress procedure was adapt from rodent studies. The CUMS group was exposed to seven days of chronic unpredictable mild stressors followed by a four-day behavior observation period; this regimen was conducted for five cycles. Metabolic profiling of plasma was performed using LC-MS. |
