Title | Effects of Platycodins Folium on depression in mice based on a UPLC-Q/TOF-MS serum assay and hippocampus metabolomics |
Overall design | The aim of this study was to investigate the antidepressant effect of Platycodins Folium (PF) using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced depressive mice. ICR mice were divided into the following 3 groups: (1) control group, (2) LPS group (LPS injection), and (3) LPS + HPF group (LPS injection plus PF treatment at the dose of 400 mg/kg). All the mice were administered their respective solutions once daily (i.g. 10 mL/kg) for 7 consecutive days. On the 7th day, all mice received a single LPS (0.83 mg/kg, i.p.) or vehicle after the last drug treatment. A UPLC-Q/TOF-MS-based metabolomics approach was applied to explore the latent mechanism of PF in attenuating depression. Eight samples per group were used for metabonomic analysis. |
