Title

Serum metabolomic responses to aerobic exercise in rats under chronic unpredictable mild stress

Overall design

The aim of this study was to reveal the modulation of the serum metabolic profile of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model of depressive rats by aerobic exercise using an LC-MS/MS metabolomics approach. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into the following 3 groups (n = 8 in each group): (1) control group (no stress, no aerobic exercise), (2) CUMS group (stress, no aerobic exercise), and (3) CUMS + aerobic exercise group (stress, with aerobic exercise). The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 7 weeks, and aerobic exercise was performed during the last 4 weeks of the model building period. Eight serum samples per group were used for metabonomic analysis.
