Title | Metabolomic analysis reveals metabolic disturbances in the prefrontal cortex of the lipopolysaccharide-induced mouse model of depression |
Overall design | Here, we employed a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-based metabonomic approach in the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mouse model of depression to investigate any significant metabolic changes in the prefrontal cortex (PFC). Mice were divided into 2 groups: (1) control group, and (2) LPS group (single dose of LPS intraperitoneal injection at the dose of 0.83 mg/kg). Depressive-like behaviors were then assessed 24 h following the i.p. injection of LPS, and the PFC was separated as soon as the behavioral test was finished. Nine samples in the LPS group and seven samples in the control group were used for metabonomic analysis. |
