Title

[Study on the fecal metabolomics of CUMS-susceptible and CUMS-resilient rats]

Overall design

The aim of this study was to characterize the fecal metabolic profiles of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-depression and CUMS-resilience rats. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into the following 3 groups: (1) control group, (2) CUMS depression group (stressed rats with low sucrose preference after stress), and (3) CUMS resilience group (stressed rats with high sucrose preference after stress). The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 4 weeks. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance-based metabolomics was then applied to measure metabolomic changes in fecal samples of the control (n = 6), CUMS depression (n = 6) and CUMS resilience (n = 4) groups.
