Title

Taurine alleviates chronic social defeat stress-induced depression by protecting cortical neurons from dendritic spine loss

Overall design

The aim of this study was to investigate metabolic changes in the extracellular fluid of the cerebral medial prefrontal cortex in the chronic social defeat stress (CSDS)-induced depression model through microdialysis combined with metabonomic analysis. C57BL/6 J mice were divided into the following 2 groups (n = 9 in each group): (1) control group, and (2) CSDS group. The CSDS stress procedure lasted for 10 days. Then the mouse brain interstitial fluid was collected by microdialysis. Six samples per group were used for LC-MS-based metabonomic analysis.
