Title | Semen Sojae Praeparatum alters depression-like behaviors in chronic unpredictable mild stress rats via intestinal microbiota |
Overall design | The aim of this study was to explore the effect of Semen Sojae Praeparatum on rats with chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS)-induced depression. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into the following 3 groups (n = 10 in each group): (1) control group, (2) CUMS group, and (3) CUMS + Semen Sojae Praeparatum group (stressor plus Semen Sojae Praeparatum treatment at the dose of 0.97 g/kg). The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 7 weeks, and Semen Sojae Praeparatum was administered via intragastric once per day during the last 4 weeks of model building period. Short-chain fatty acids concentrations in the stool sample of rats were measured by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. |
