Title | Increase in the cerebrospinal fluid content of neurosteroids in patients with unipolar major depression who are receiving fluoxetine or fluvoxamine |
Overall design | In this study, ALLO content was measured in four cisternal-lumbar fractions of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) before and 8-10 weeks after treatment with fluoxetine (0.27-1.5 mg per kg per day) or fluvoxamine (0.54-2.88 mg per kg per day) in 15 patients with unipolar major depression (depressed group). In addition, the CSF content of ALLO was also measured in 3 normal subjects (control group). Neurosteroids were quantified using GC/MS. |
