Title

Profiling GABA(A) receptor subunit expression in the hippocampus of PMDD rat models based on TCM theories

Overall design

The aim of this study was to explore patterns of hippocampal GABAAR subunit expression in rat models of premenstrual dysphoric disorder liver-qi depression syndrome. Female Wistar rats were divided into the following 2 groups: (1) control group, and (2) premenstrual dysphoric disorder liver-qi depression syndrome model group. Rats in the model group were subjected to ovariectomy, and allowed to recover for 1 to 2 weeks. Then rats were restrained for 8 days (6 h per day). Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis was performed to determine gamma-aminobutyric acid and glutamate levels in the hippocampus.
