Title | Pulsatilla chinensis saponins ameliorated murine depression by inhibiting intestinal inflammation mediated IDO1 overexpression and rebalancing tryptophan metabolism |
Overall design | The aim of this study was to determine whether Pulsatilla chinensis saponins could improve the depression in the chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model. C57BL/6 J mice were divided into the following 3 groups (n = 10 in each group): (1) control group (non-stress with vehicle treatment), (2) CUMS group (stress with vehicle treatment), and (3) CUMS + Pulsatilla chinensis saponins group (stress with Pulsatilla chinensis saponins treatment at the dose of 100 mg/kg/d). The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 6 weeks. Measurement of tryptophan and its metabolites levels were performed using LC-MS (n = 10 in each group). |
