Title | A preliminary comparison of plasma tryptophan metabolites and medium- and long-chain fatty acids in adult patients with major depressive disorder and schizophrenia |
Overall design | The aim of this study was to determine the differences in tryptophan metabolites and the composition of medium- and long-chain fatty acids in adult patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) and schizophrenia. Metabolite levels in plasma samples from patients with MDD (MDD group, n = 24) and healthy controls (control group, n = 23) were analyzed. Tryptophan and its catabolites were detected by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, and medium and long-chain fatty acids were detected by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. |
