Title

[Hippocampus metabonomic study using a CUMS rat model of depression]

Overall design

The objective of this study was to analysis the regulation of biomarkers by an metabonomic investigation of chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) rats. CUMS induced rat animal depression model, the behavioral changes of rats were observed; meanwhile, hippocampus samples were obtained and subjected to GC-MS analysis to find potential biomarkers of depression. Rats were divided into the following two groups (n = 6 in each group): (1) CUMS group and (2) control group. The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 3 weeks.
