Overall design | The aim of this study was to investigate whether glutamate and glutamine levels and glutamatergic neuronal activity are altered in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) of a chronic restraint stress-induced depressive animal model. C57BL/6 mice were divided into the following 2 groups: (1) control group, and (2) chronic restraint stress group. Mice were repeatedly placed in a restrainer for 2 h/day for 15 consecutive days. Amino acid levels in the mPFC, hippocampus and plasma were measured by liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (n = 8/group). |
