Alterations of plasma lipids in adult women with major depressive disorder and bipolar depression

Overall design

The aim of this study was to identify peripheral biomarkers for major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar depression (BPD). Age-matched female individuals with MDD (MDD group, n = 28), BPD (BPD group, n = 22) and healthy controls (control group, n = 25) were enrolled. Plasma samples were analyzed by comprehensive lipid profiling based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS).
