Quantitative analysis of 20 purine and pyrimidine metabolites by HILIC-MS/MS in the serum and hippocampus of depressed mice

Overall design

In this study, a simple, all-in-one injection HILIC-MS/MS was developed for the simultaneous determination of 12 purine metabolites, 4 pyrimidine metabolites and 4 other metabolites closely related to depression. The HILIC-MS/MS method was applied to a chronic social defeat stress (CSDS)-induced depression model. C57BL/6 J mice were divided into the following 2 groups (n = 12 in each group): (1) control group, and (2) CSDS group. The CSDS stress procedure lasted for 10 days. Then the analytical strategy was applied to quantitatively determine 20 metabolite levels in the serum and hippocampus of mice.
