Title | The adrenal steroid profile in adolescent depression: a valuable bio-readout? |
Overall design | The aim of this study was to assess whether adrenal steroids serve as biomarkers for adolescent major depressive disorder (MDD). A total of 261 psychiatric patients (MDD group) and 255 subjects from the reference cohort (control group) were included for analysis. Serum adrenal steroids (progesterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, 21-deoxycortisol, 11-deoxycortisol, cortisol, cortisone, deoxycorticosterone, corticosterone) were determined by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. |
