Title | Regional metabolic heterogeneity in anterior cingulate cortex in major depressive disorder: a multi-voxel 1H magnetic resonance spectroscopy study |
Overall design | The aim of this study was to investigate the regional metabolic heterogeneity in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) in individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD), using a study cohort of first-episode, treatment-naive young adults with MDD and matched healthy control subjects. Fifty-nine individuals with MDD (MDD group) and fifty matched healthy control participants (control group) were recruited. Participants underwent multi-voxel 1H-MRS scanning at 3 Tesla with voxels placed in the ACC, which was divided into two subregions, pregenual ACC and anterior midcingulate cortex. Metabolite quantification was reported relative to total creatine as the reference peak. |
