Title | Metabolomics analysis on mice with depression ameliorated by acupoint catgut embedding |
Overall design | The aim of this study was to investigate the effects and underlying mechanism of acupoint catgut embedding on depression. Acupoint catgut embedding treatment was applied at the Baihui (GV20) and Dazhui (GV14) acupoints of corticosterone-induced depression model mice. Swiss mice were divided into the following 3 groups: (1) control group, (2) corticosterone group, and (3) corticosterone + acupoint catgut embedding group. Corticosterone was subcutaneously injected for 21 consecutive days at a dose of 20 mg/kg. The mice in the acupoint catgut embedding treatment group were treated with acupoint catgut embedding at GV20 and GV14 once on days 8 and 15. The metabolic profiles of brain samples were characterized by LC-MS/MS (n = 6 per group). |
