Title

Chronic D-ribose and D-mannose overload induce depressive/anxiety-like behavior and spatial memory impairment in mice

Overall design

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of low- and high-dose D-ribose and D-mannose on depressive- and anxiety-like behavior. C57BL/6J mice were divided into the following 2 groups: (1) control group, and (2) high-dose D-ribose group (D-ribose daily intraperitoneal injections at the dose of 4 g/kg for 4 weeks). High-dose levels of D-ribose induced depressive-like behavior in mice. Nine hippocampal samples per group were used for targeted metabolomics analysis.
