Title

Photoperiodic changes in hippocampal neurogenesis and plasma metabolomic profiles in relation to depression-like behavior in mice

Overall design

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of photoperiod on plasma metabolomic profiles in relation to depression-like behavior to understand a possible linkage between peripheral metabolism and behavior. C57BL/6 J mice were divided into the following 2 groups: (1) long-day group (light-dark cycle of 16 h and 8 h for three weeks), and (2) short-day group (light-dark cycle of 8 h and 16 h for three weeks). Mice in the short-day group showed longer immobility than the long-day group. Three plasma samples per group were used for metabonomic analysis.
