Title

Anti-depressive effects of Kai-Xin-San on lipid metabolism in depressed patients and CUMS rats using metabolomic analysis

Overall design

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of Kai-Xin-San (KXS) on lipid metabolism in rats exposed to chronic and unpredictable mild stress (CUMS). Wistar rats were divided into the following 3 groups (n = 10 in each group): (1) control group, (2) CUMS group, and (3) CUMS + Kai-Xin-San group (stressor plus Kai-Xin-San treatment at the dose of 676 mg/kg/day). The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 4 weeks, and drugs were administered for 3 weeks via intragastric once per day after stress.
