Title

HS-GC-IMS-Based metabonomics study of Baihe Jizihuang Tang in a rat model of chronic unpredictable mild stress

Overall design

The aim of this study was to investigate the differences in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) obtained from the feces of a Baihe Jizihuang Tang (BHT)-treated rat depression model. Chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model of depression was established. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into the following 3 groups (n = 10 in each group): (1) control group, (2) CUMS group, and (3) CUMS + Baihe Jizihuang Tang group (stressor plus Baihe Jizihuang Tang treatment at the dose of 10.8 g/kg). The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 30 days, and drugs were administered via intragastric once per day during the model building period. Fecal samples were used for metabonomic analysis.
