Title

Lipidome profiles are related to depressive symptoms and preterm birth among African American women

Overall design

In this study, using an untargeted lipidome profiling method, the authors determined the molecular compositions of several hundred lipid analytes in plasma from 31 pregnant African American women and explored associations between lipidome profiles and both depressive symptoms and risk of preterm birth among these participants. For depressive symptoms, women were divided into depression group (CES-D scores >= 23. n= 8) and control group (CES-D scores < 22). Lipidomic profiles were determined by shotgun Orbitrap high-resolution/accurate mass spectrometry.
