Title

Structural and biochemical imaging reveals systemic LPS-induced changes in the rat brain

Overall design

The aim of this study was to measure in vivo structural and metabolic brain imaging of Fisher 344 rats at baseline and 2 h and 24 h following lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administration. Rats were divided into the following 2 groups: (1) control group (vehicle), and (2) LPS group (LPS i.p. at a dose of 0.83 mg/kg). For each group, rats at baseline, 2h post-injection, and 24h post-injection were used for MRS data analysis (n = 12 per group). Metabolite quantification conducted in the striatum and hippocampus was reported relative to brain water concentration.
