Title

Acetyl-l-carnitine deficiency in patients with major depressive disorder

Overall design

In this study, the role of acetyl-l-carnitine (LAC) in major depressive disorder (MDD) in humans was evaluated using a biological target- and mechanistically driven approach. In a sample of 116 participants, including healthy control (control group, n = 45) and patients with MDD (depression group, n = 71), LAC levels in plasma were measured by UPLC-MS/MS and ESI-MS/MS.
