Title

[1H-MRS study of thalamus in patients with the first episode depression]

Overall design

The aim of this study was to explore the existence of thalamus metabolic change in drug naive patients with first episode depression. Drug naive patients with first episode depression (depression group, n = 20) and age-matched controls (control group, n = 20) were scanned for N-acetyl-aspartate (NAA), glutamate and glutamine (Glx), choline-containing compounds (Cho), creatine and phosphocreatine (Cr) by 1H-MRS. Metabolite quantification was reported relative to total creatine as the reference peak.
