Title

Changes in the brain endocannabinoid system in rat models of depression

Overall design

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of changes in the endocannabinoid (eCB) system, such as levels of neuromodulators, eCB synthesizing and degrading enzymes, and cannabinoid (CB) receptors, in different brain structures in animal models of depression using behavioral and biochemical analyses. Rats were divided into the following 4 groups (n = 8 in each group): (1) bulbectomized group (olfactory bulbectomy rats), (2) sham group (sham surgery rats, control for bulbectomized group), (3) WKY group (Wistar Kyoto rats), (4) control group (Wistar rats, control for WKY group). The analysis of brain anandamide (AEA) and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) were applied using LC-MS. Eight samples per group were used for LC-MS analysis.
