Title | Reduction of kynurenic acid to quinolinic acid ratio in both the depressed and remitted phases of major depressive disorder |
Overall design | The aim of this study was to compare the serum concentrations of kynurenine metabolites, measured using high performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry, across unmedicated subjects meeting DSM-IV-TR criteria for MDD (dMDD group, n = 49), unmedicated subjects meeting DSM-IV-TR criteria for rMDD (rMDD group, n = 21), and healthy controls (control group, n = 58). Concentrations of tryptophan, kynurenine, kynurenic acid, 3-hydroxykynurenine, and quinolinic acid were measured. |
