Title

Identification of metabolomic changes before and after exercise regimen in stress induced rats

Overall design

The aim of this study is to identify the metabolomic changes before and after exercise regimen in depression induced animal models. Severity of depression was measured by forced swim test (FST) and sucrose consumption test (SCT) and their statistical significance was obtained by ANOVA followed by post hoc test. Swimming protocol was followed for 4 weeks of exercise treatment. Serum obtained from depressed and exercise treated rats were used for the metabolite analysis by GC-MS. Rats were divided into 3 groups (n = 6 in each group): (1) control group, (2) CUMS group, (3) CUMS + exercise group (stress plus moderate swimming program). The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 4 weeks, and the moderate swimming program were administered daily (between 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m.) during the model building period.
