Title

Plasma metabolic disturbances during pregnancy and postpartum in women with depression

Overall design

The aim of this study was to investigate whether the levels of plasma metabolites was associated with postpartum depression during pregnancy and postpartum periods. Targeted paired plasma metabolomics were performed in mid-late gestational and 1-month postpartum periods in women with postpartum depression (postpartum depression group, with EPDS > 9; n = 209) or without postpartum depression (control group, with EPDS < 2; n = 222). Gas chromatogram-mass spectrometry was used to analyze plasma metabolites at these two time points.
