Title

Repeated use of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine is associated with the resilience in mice after chronic social defeat stress: a role of gut-microbiota-brain axis

Overall design

The aim of this study was to examine whether repeated administration of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine can affect resilience versus susceptibility in mice exposed to chronic social defeat stress (CSDS). C57BL/6 mice were divided into the following 3 groups: (1) control group (n = 10), (2) CSDS group (stressor plus saline treatment; n = 9), and (3) CSDS + 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine group (stressor plus 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine treatment; n = 7). Saline or 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (10 mg/kg/day) was administered intraperitoneally to mice for 14 days. Subsequently, CSDS was carried out for 10 days. 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine-treated mice show stress resilience exposed to CSDS. Plasm samples were used for untargeted metabonomic analysis.
