Metabolomic profiles of 38 acylcarnitines in major depressive episodes before and after treatment

Overall design

The aims of the current study were to compare the plasma levels of 38 acylcarnitines in patients with a current major depressive episode and healthy controls, and to assess their changes after antidepressant treatment. Metabolomic profiles of 38 plasma short-, medium-, and long-chain acylcarnitines were performed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry in 893 healthy controls (control group) and 460 depressed patients (depression group) before and after 6 months of antidepressant treatment.
