Overall design | The aim of this study was to investigate the underlying antidepressant mechanisms of crocetin through multi-omics in the chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model of depression. ICR mice were divided into the following 3 groups (n = 9 in each group): (1) control group, (2) CUMS group, and (3) CUMS + crocetin group (stressor plus crocetin treatment at the dose of 80 mg/kg). The CUMS stress procedure lasted for 3 weeks, and crocetin was administered via intragastric once per day during the model building period. Fecal samples were used for metabonomic analysis (n = 5/group). |
