Title | Plasma-metabolite-biomarkers for the therapeutic response in depressed patients by the traditional Chinese medicine formula Xiaoyaosan: a 1H NMR-based metabolomics approach |
Overall design | The current study was aimed at discovering biomarkers and biochemical pathways to facilitate the diagnosis of depression and the efficient evaluation of Xiaoyaosan using plasma metabolomics profiles based on 1H NMR. During this study, for all subjects, the decoctions of Xiaoyaosan were supplied for 8 weeks. The participants included 2 groups (n = 16 in each group): (1) control group, and (2) depressed group. 1H NMR-based metabolomics techniques and multivariate statistical methods were used to analyze the plasma metabolites of the depressed patients before and after treatment (Xiaoyaosan for 8 weeks) and to compare them with healthy controls. |
